Championing the next generation

Big change doesn’t always come from people with power, platforms or job titles. Sometimes it comes from young people who simply decide to step up.

That’s why Strand is proud to sponsor the Young Achiever Award at the Heart Hertfordshire Hero Awards 2025.

This award recognises under-18s who are already making a real difference in their communities. Young people who show grit, leadership and determination, often quietly and without expectation of praise.

The Heart Hertfordshire Hero Awards exist to spotlight everyday heroes across Hertfordshire. People who don’t shout about what they do but consistently show up for others. The Young Achiever Award brings that same focus to the next generation.

There’s no fixed definition of what a ‘young achiever’ looks like. It could be someone excelling at school against the odds, overcoming personal challenges or taking responsibility beyond their years to support others. What matters is impact, not labels.

Finalists will be shortlisted by an independent judging panel and invited to attend the awards ceremony, where their achievements will be recognised alongside Hertfordshire’s wider community heroes.

At Strand, we care about people who take ownership and make things better, not for recognition, but because it’s the right thing to do. Sponsoring this award is a small but meaningful way for us to back young people who are already showing those values in action.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the finalists and championing a generation that proves leadership doesn’t have to wait.

Entries are open here until March 8. Nominate your young hero.
